Helen Keller
A rare and lovely photo of Helen Keller & her teacher Anne Sullivan was recently discovered in a family album (article found via a Dave in Texas comment @ AoSHQ). Experts believe it could be the earliest photo of the two together.

Now, that's weird. I spent the morning reading the Wikipedia entry on Helen Keller after running across that photo (did you know she was a socialist?). That led me to Hachikō the Akita dog and Swedenborg and Johnny Appleseed.
I *didn't* know she was socialist. How ... disappointing. It is a swell pic, tho. I like your varied subjects -- you must do like me: Arrive at some bizarre subject after much "clicking" and think, "How on earth did I get HERE????"

Wikipedia eats some portion of most of my days.
